The ministries of Love INC’s partner churches are meeting physical needs. But more importantly, we seek to make connections with our client families that truly transform – that means sharing Christ’s love!
One question our families are asked during their initial intake (the conversation that helps them get plugged into support) is if they would like to be contacted by a local church or pastor for spiritual growth and guidance. Almost 1/3 of the people say yes!
Love INC’s Church Connections Visit ministry
Connecting to a church that is local is key, so two partner churches – Christian Neighbors Church in Waukegan and New Song Ministries in Zion – have created teams of their church members to respond to the need. Each church is given the name and contact information for the person that requested the connection and off they go.
The group’s leader calls and makes the initial connection with the person. Many times, this is more than just a “Hey, do you want to meet?” call. The pair ends up deep in conversation, as the person shares more about their life and where they are in their walk with the Lord. Many prayers are shared – for favor in a job interview, for protection for the children, all the same things we also have on our hearts.
For some calls, the next step is a visit to the person’s home where conversation and connections deepen, fun is had with the kids, and more prayers are shared. Maybe the person doesn’t feel comfortable meeting in their own home? No problem! Meet-ups happen at a local coffee shop or other location in the area.
Some of the folks that these churches are visiting are new to the area and actively looking to plug into a church community. Others may have been in the area awhile, but are looking to explore more in their faith. Others are curious as to why servants from Love INC would share their time and just want to talk!
God built us to be part of a community – and through Love INC’s Church Connections Visit ministry, servants from our partner churches are working to build just that, right here in Lake County.
